Green Brunei, with the support of Brunei Shell Petroleum Company Sdn Bhd organised the 5th Plastic Bottle-free Campaign at the 40th National Day Celebration on Saturday. As part of the initiative, Green Brunei set up four water dispenser stations along the parade route leading to Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium which were provided free of charge to the public. The campaign was a success with 1,438 cups were distributed as well as using reusable water bottles, which help reduce the use of plastic bottles during the National Day celebration. The campaign also supports the 'Plastic Bottles Free Initiative' introduced by the Department of Environment, Parks and Recreation (JASTRe), Ministry of Development in June 2018 and the 'Green Protocol', launched on January 30, 2021 by the Ministry of Development. Expro (B) Sdn Bhd in collaboration with CJ Technical Sdn Bhd and Green Brunei, successfully organised a beach cleanup activity at Taman Rekreasi Peranginan Pantai Lumut on December 1st, 2023. The event was attended by over 50 volunteers, including members of Expro, CJ Technical and their families, as well as members from Green Brunei. The main objective of the cleanup was to raise awareness about the importance of protecting the environment, particularly the beach, and to educate both young people and the general public on the significance of proper waste management. In an effort to improve the safety and livelihood of the community of Kampong Sungai Pandan and its surroundings, a Social Development Project is currently undergoing its second activity, which involves boardwalk repair in Kampong Sungai Pandan. The project is an initiative by Mitsubishi Corporation Brunei Liaison Office in collaboration with Green Brunei and the Ministry of Home Affairs. The project is expected to run for one month, focusing on the repair of 150 metres of boardwalk around Balai Ibadat Kampong Sungai Pandan and the jetty.
