Building a Sustainable Tomorrow: Year 9-11 Students Gear Up for SDG Youth Camp

SDG participants along with Pengiran Hajah Siti Nirmala and LegCo representative member, Chong Chin Yee Students in grades 9 to 11 who attended the five-day SDG Youth Camp, which took place from August 10–14, emphasized how much they learned and how much experience they gained. The camp gave participants a forum to learn about and comprehend the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) in light of both the global and Brunei Darussalam contexts. BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, 7 AUGUST 2024 – Mitsubishi Corporation, via its Brunei Liaison Office, has partnered with Green Brunei and received support from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MOHA), the Department of Schools (JSS), the Ministry of Education (MOE), and the Department of Forestry under the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism (MPRT) to launch the second edition of the Social Development Project. The event took place at Pantai Serasa and saw enthusiastic participation from over 150 students representing all member universities of the ASEAN University Network (AUN), including those from UBD. The participants managed to collect more than 200 kilograms of waste, including plastic bottles, cans and other debris, which were then set aside for proper disposal. The "Bergotong-Royong for Paraplegic and Physically Handicapped Association (PAPDA)" cleaning campaign was held in Kampong Kiarong on March 10, 2024. This initiative, organised by the Council for Welfare of Persons with Different Abilities (MKOKU) in collaboration with Brunei Youth Council (MBB) and Green Brunei, aimed to support the association to have a safe and comfortable space to operate in. The campaign garnered support from various entities, highlighting the community's solidarity towards aiding the disabled. Green Brunei, with the support of Brunei Shell Petroleum Company Sdn Bhd organised the 5th Plastic Bottle-free Campaign at the 40th National Day Celebration on Saturday. As part of the initiative, Green Brunei set up four water dispenser stations along the parade route leading to Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium which were provided free of charge to the public. The campaign was a success with 1,438 cups were distributed as well as using reusable water bottles, which help reduce the use of plastic bottles during the National Day celebration.
