Green Brunei is calling for youth aged between 16 -25 to register for the upcoming 5th Green Leaders Camp that will be organized from 27 – 30 March 2017 at Berakas Forest Reserve. The theme for this year is ‘Sustainable Agriculture and Agri Food’. This camp will empower youth to take actions upon preserving the environment and ensuring the sustainability of our natural resources. This program will cover but not limited to Organic Farming, Business in Agriculture, Food Security and Agrifood. SCB, Green Brunei hold tree-planting campaign at Berakas Forest Reserve

MORE than 20 staff members of Standard Chartered Bank (SCB) collaborated with Green Brunei to plant 100 trees and conduct a clean-up of the Berakas Forest Reserve yesterday, as part of their efforts in raising awareness on environmental conservation. Present at the event were YB Khairunnisa binti Haji Ash’ari, a member of the Legislative Council, who is also a Co-Founder and a Community Engagement Director of Green Brunei; and Noralinda binti Haji Ibrahim, the Acting Director of the Forestry Department. Prior to the tree-planting activity, a welcoming speech together with a briefing was delivered by YB Khairunissa. THE fourth Green Leaders Camp (GLC4) concluded yesterday with a closing ceremony at the Youth Centre and a presentation of certificates to the participants by Haji Mohammad Zamree bin Haji Zunaidi, the Director of the Tourism Development Department at the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism. ENVIRONMENTAL non-government organisation Green Brunei said more action is needed by the community in taking on their own initiatives in tackling climate change issues. Its Co-Founder/ Community Engagement Director Khairunnisa Ash’ari said the government or NGOs should not be the only party working on combatting climate change, but that there should be a collective effort from the community as well. “We have to work together as a community, such as reducing demand for products that have led to the haze issues or reducing usage of cars on the road,” she said. TEN students from Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Secondary School (YSHHBSS) recently had an adventurous time in Temburong while gaining a better understanding of climate change and its impact at a camp. The trip to the Climate Camp organised by eco-based non-governmental organisation Green Brunei at the Sumbiling Eco Village was part of the school’s August ACE (To Achieve To Challenge To Excel) Enrichment Programme. BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN – Seminar belia mengenai Nadi Borneo yang berlangsung selama tiga hari, telah berakhir dengan pengumpulan idea dan juga penyerahan sijil penyertaan yang berlangsung di Galeri Seni dan Kebudayaan Kampong Ayer. Seramai 29 belia telah menyertai seminar itu terdiri daripada belia dari Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia dan juga Malaysia. Belia-belia ini juga baru sahaja ikut serta dalam satu acara yang memfokuskan untuk meningkatkan kefahaman mereka tentang inisiatif Nadi Borneo dan juga memberikan kuasa kepada mereka sebagai ketua dalam penggerak generasi seterusnya dalam mempromosikan perkembangan mapan.
