On 24th November, 43 students from Maktab Sains Paduka Seri Begawan Sultan collaborated with Green Brunei for a beach cleanup campaign at Muara Beach! Brunei LNG Beach Cleanup and Tree Planting

On 11th December 2024, Green Brunei, in collaboration with Brunei LNG Sdn Bhd, organised a coastal cleanup as well as tree planting activity at Taman Rekreasi Peranginan Pantai Lumut, in conjunction with Brunei LNG Sdn Bhd’s 55th anniversary. The event aimed to raise awareness about the importance of proper waste disposal to protect Brunei’s beaches and mitigate climate change. It also engaged the community in hands-on conservation efforts while educating participants on the harmful effects of non-biodegrable waste. A total of 200 volunteers participated, including Brunei LNG staff. There were a total of 26 bags of trash collected, weighing 165.5 kg all together. On 10th November, as part of the EU-ASEAN Green Diplomacy Weeks 2024, Green Brunei collaborated with the European Union for a river cleanup at Kampong Ayer. A total of 146 volunteers, including students, invited guests, and Green Brunei committee members, collected over 1,300 kg of waste in designated zones. This initiative supports Brunei’s National Climate Change Policy and the European Green Deal, promoting youth awareness and climate action through hands-on participation. Brunei Methanol Company Beach Cleanup

On 1 November, Brunei Methanol Company Sdn Bhd (BMC) held the Beach Cleanup Campaign as part of their corporate social responsibility activities at Tanjung Batu Beach, Muara, and Ambassador Maeda joined the campaign. Ambassador Maeda, together with other invited guests, BMC employees and volunteers, collected over 960kg of litters in the beach cleanup. Japan is working towards achieving “the Osaka Blue Ocean Vision” that was launched at the G20 Osaka Summit in 2019, which aims to reduce additional pollution by marine plastic litter to zero by 2050. On 23rd October, Green Brunei conducted an educational talk to 24 students at Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB), which focused on the importance of proper e-waste management in Brunei. 🌍💡 Green Brunei Committees presenting about our initiatives. The session provided insights into the environmental and health impacts of e-waste, current management practices in Brunei, and recommendations for improvement.
