Lee Huan Ni and Lee Huan Ching of Team Gaia won first place at the Green Brunei Eco Race on 7th April 2019. They earned a cash prize of BND250, two BND20 I-Lotus Restaurant meal vouchers and two BND10 Caffè Bene cash vouchers. The race, with the start and finish line at Taman Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien, was held in Bandarku Ceria. Involving 44 participants aged 15 years old and above, it aimed to promote environmental awareness through a series of challenging eco-themed obstacles about sustainability, biodiversity loss, climate change and more. Recycling Drive Collects Over 400kg of Recyclables

On 1st April 2019, Green Brunei successfully organised a recycling drive in conjunction with Global Recycling Day (18th March). Green Brunei's conservation team (comprising of Nazurah Noor and Wynona Curaming) spearheaded the drive from 2-4 PM under the National Stadium. Almost 40 people participated by giving their recyclable items. Thanks to the public's gracious support, over 400 kg of recyclables were gathered in total.   To break it down, the following were collected: 108 kg plastic bottles 335 kg paper 35 kg of e-waste, metal items and aluminum cans [caption id="attachment_1567" align="aligncenter" width="640"] A variety of recyclables classified into plastic, paper, metal and e-waste[/caption] The Daikyo Recycling Company assisted in weighing the items. Green Brunei will be organising GB Eco Race on 7th April 2019 (Sunday) during Bandarku Ceria, 7-11 AM. It is a challenge-based, eco-themed race where teams of two people will compete with one another in tackling obstacles and solving puzzles in 10 checkpoints around Bandar Seri Begawan. Each checkpoint has the objective of raising awareness about a certain environmental concern. This includes, but is not limited to, climate change, recycling and the need for more sustainable consumption patterns. The number of points won at each checkpoint depends on how well the team completes the challenge. Attractive cash prizes are up for grabs for 3 teams with the most number of points. AUTORITI Monetari Brunei Darussalam (AMBD), in collaboration with Green Brunei, held a beach cleaning campaign at the Berakas Beach, Berakas Forest Reserve recently. AMBD Acting Assistant Managing Director Mardini bin Haji Eddie and AMBD Principal Syariah Advisor as Chairman of the AMBD Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Committee Haji Muhd Shukri bin Haji Ahmad led the campaign, undertaken by over 80 AMBD officers and staff, and six Green Brunei members. The campaign aimed to preserve the natural environment by keeping the marine habitat safe and shorelines trash-free. BEACH CLEAN-UP ACTIVITY BETWEEN ROYAL BRUNEI NAVY AND UNITED STATES 7TH FLEET P-8A MARITIME PATROL AND RECONAISSANCE AIRCRAFT CREW

MUARA, Sunday, 28 October 2018 – As part of the Community Relations (COMREL) program between the Royal Brunei Navy and the United States 7th Fleet P-8A Maritime Patrol and Reconaissance Aircraft (MPRA), 41 personnel and crew from both sides conducted a Beach Clean-Up activity coordinated by a local Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), Green Brunei in Muara Beach. The Beach Clean-Up activity yielded 36 rubbish bags within 45 minutes and weighing at 171.42kg in total. The waste collected during the clean-up predominantly consists of plastic bottles, broken glasses, ropes and styrofoam. The message through this initiative is that environmental protection is everyone’s responsibility and we must play our part in sustaining our environment for generations to come. Green Brunei will be organising its fourth Remarkable Green Race on 25 November in Berakas Forest Reserve. The race aims to promote environmental awareness through a fun-filled amazing race theme. The registration is open to ages between 15 to 35 years old in teams of four people each. Registration fee is $25 per person and will include event t-shirt and merchandise. The race will involve games and clues on environmental-related topics, and will be testing participants' critical thinking, strength as well as teamwork. The two-district campaign, organised by the BSJV companies in support of International Coastal Clean Up 2018, yielded a massive rubbish haul of 6,506kg (6.5 tonnes). Standard Chartered Bank teams up with Green Brunei to clean Tungku Beach

STANDARD Chartered Bank volunteers partnered with Green Brunei yesterday to clean part of Tungku Beach in an effort to beautify Brunei Darussalam’s natural landscape and to ensure that beaches remain clean. Throughout the cleaning campaign, the volunteers collected about 20 rubbish bags and 400 plastic bottles. Chairperson of the Standard Chartered Bank Recreation Club Debbie Too said Standard Chartered Bank is committed to environment protection and sustainability values. “The bank has always encouraged its employees to volunteer and organise activities that centre around the environment.” Ten volunteers took part in the beach cleaning. ALL in all, a total of 531 plastic bottles, 17 plastic straws, 30 cigarettes and 30 bags of mixed litter were collected during the Advancement of the Community and Environment (ACE) Team Muara Beach Campaign yesterday. Over 50 volunteers gathered as early as seven in the morning at Muara Beach to give the stretch of sand a much-needed spruce-up. The event aimed to raise awareness on environmental issues plaguing marine animals, encourage environmental-friendly thinking, as well as promote public participation and collaboration on the issue of environmental hygiene.
