Call to register for 6th Green Leaders Camp

GREEN Brunei called for youths aged 16 – 25 to register for the 6th Green Leaders Camp to be held from March 26 – 29 at the Sungai Kebun Sports Complex. This camp is limited to 40 participants. Selection will be based on their experience or passion towards environmental conservation and having demonstrated strong leadership skills. The deadline for registration is March 18. The camp aims to train youth leaders and youth mobilisation, through the exposure of issues and environmental initiatives led by non-government organisations in the country. It also aims to empower participants through a variety of workshops such as volunteerism, project management, urban planning and many others. |     Achong Tanjong     | FIVE volunteers from Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah left for Singapore yesterday to participate at Global Compact Network Singapore (GCNS) Youth Forum 2018. Present at Brunei International Airport to bid farewell to the participants was Legislative Council member, YB Khairunnisa binti Haji Ash’ari, who is also the Co-founder and Community Engagement Director of Green Brunei. Their participation is sponsored by Yayasan. The forum, themed ‘Sustainable Development Goals (SDGS) in Asean: The Youth Impact’, will be held from March 17 -18. |   Syazwani Hj Rosli   | MORE than 800 volunteers joined forces yesterday morning for the annual ‘Brunei Coastal Clean-up’ campaign organised by the BSJV companies. At the Muara Beach, volunteers managed to collect 360.7 kilogrammes of garbage, while Jerudong Beach clean-up resulted in the collection of a total of 3,767.68 kilogrammes of rubbish. In Danau Beach, volunteers were successful in collecting 554 kilogrammes of trash, Lumut Beach saw the collection of 898.915 kilogrammes of trash and Panaga Beach volunteers collected a total of 325 kilogrammes of garbage. At the Jerudong Beach, a total of 221 volunteers alongside the organisers lent a helping hand in cleaning the beach areas during the campaing yesterday.
