The second batch of face shields made by volunteers from Green Brunei along with support from several communities was presented to the Ministry of Health (MoH) on Monday. Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar received the DIY face shields from Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin. Legislative Council members Yang Berhormat Nik Hafimi binti Abdul Haadii and Yang Berhormat Khairunnisa binti Haji Ash’ari, and representatives from Peradian Brunei and Cerita Fabrikku were also present. In conjunction with Maktab Duli's English festival which was held on 7th March, Green Brunei has been invited to participate a workshop. The objective of the event was to give the students the opportunity to learn and gain relevant current knowledge and skills from experts specialising in their area of interest, to allow students to learn skills such as organisation, teamwork and time management through participating in workshops, seminars and talks. It was also to spark an interest in the students through a medium outside of the learning classroom and to provide an opportunity for students to engage with relevant stakeholders to build knowledge relevant to their AS subjects and across the A' Level curriculum. Students gather knowledge during visit to local beekeeper

Some 20 third year students from Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) recently carried out a study-visit to the residence of Madu Kelulut entrepreneur Haji Abidin bin Haji Tengah to watch soap making out of Propolis Madu Kelulut in RPN Kampong Rimba. Legislative Council member Yang Berhormat Khairunnisa binti Haji Ash’ari as the Community Outreach Programme Supervisor also participated. Haji Abidin has been in the business for nearly six years and recently started producing soap out of the Propolis Madu Kelulut earlier this year. The visit aimed to study the basic process of making soap, know the health benefits of honey and support and promote locally produced goods. The students were taught how make the soap using organic ingredients such as propolis, Madu Kelulut, vegetable gluten and virgin coconut oil.     Eighty-five bags of trash weighing 289 kilogrammes were collected during a beach cleaning activity at Berakas Forest Reserve Beach organised by Green Brunei and the students under Discovery Year Unit Community Outreach Programme of Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) on Sunday. Among the waste collected were plastic bottles, a fridge door and fences, a press release stated. The clean-up was carried out to raise awareness regarding environmental cleanliness and to show the importance of proper rubbish disposal. The activity started at 7.30am and ended at 10am. Some 102 volunteers took part in the campaign to pick up rubbish along the coastline of Berakas Forest Reserve Beach which spanned about one kilometre. Our students under Green Brunei organised a workshop titled "Marine Pollution Awareness" this morning which was attended by mostly UBD environmental students.   The workshop was held at the Turkish Embassy in Brunei. This as part of the Turkish Embassy's awareness increasing event on environmental pollution and the underwater photo exhibition. Universiti Brunei Darussalam, UBD's undergraduates doing Community Outreach Programme at Green Brunei attended Finals of The Great Discussion last Thursday, 30th January 2020 as part of their study as well as expanding their knowledge on the topics being discussed, mainly on Climate Change. Sengkurong Sixth Form Centre (PTES) emerged victor of The Great Discussion after defeating Sayyidina Ali Secondary School (SMSA) in the finals at Radio Television Brunei (RTB). The champions received BND1,800, the championship trophy and certificates. Meanwhile, the Best Panellist was awarded to Awangku Md Nukman Syawqi bin Pengiran Md Salimin from PTES, while the Best Moderator went to Mohd Na’iim bin Mohd Rafi of SMSA.
