Building the case for climate action
AS THE world celebrated Earth Hour on March 19, it was a great reminder how far we have come in creating awareness on the effects of climate change. It is not about turning off the lights for an hour, instead a call for humanity to contribute towards climate change within their own power and capacity. From rising sea levels to increasing global temperature, the climate crisis has resulted in many tragedies around the world. These include Typhoon Haiyan in 2013, which was the strongest tropical cyclones ever recorded, killing over 6,000 people in The Philippines. Just last year, Iran reported a deadly heat index of 73 degrees celcius.
