Youth should be empowered to drive solutions towards climate change, said Singaporean Minister of Sustainability and the Environment Grace Fu Hai Yien in a keynote address at Climate Action Week of the Brunei Mid-Year Conference and Exhibition 2022 (Brunei MYCE 2022) at the International Convention Centre (ICC), Berakas yesterday. The climate crisis is very much an ocean crisis, Public Affairs Officer at the United States (US) Embassy in Brunei Darussalam Jeffrey Barrus said. The Environmental Education Tour (EET) Project is organised in collaboration with Mitsubishi Corporation. It is supported by the Ministry of Development, Ministry of Energy, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Transport and Info-communications and the Brunei Shell Petroleum Co Sdn Bhd. The project was virtually launched on 4 October 2021 and its activities include virtual workshops with secondary and high institutions. It was initially proposed as physical tours by visiting Seria Energy Lab and Tenaga Suria Brunei, however, changed to virtual workshop sessions due to the pandemic. The objective of this virtual workshop is to raise awareness on renewable energy, climate change, and Brunei's related policies through environmental education.
