BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, 21 Mac – Dalam usaha untuk meningkatkan penghargaan terhadap alam semula jadi, Green Brunei menyeru para ibu bapa untuk mendaftarkan anak-anak mereka yang berusia di antara 14 hingga 18 tahun untuk menyertai Perkhemahan Iklim (Climate Camp), yang akan bermula dari 4 hingga 6 April di Eco Sumbiling Village, Temburong. Melalui perkhemahan itu nanti, para peserta akan menikmati keseronokan melalui aktiviti-aktiviti pendidikan dalam persekitaran alam semula jadi, mempelajari pelbagai tumbuhan dan serangga-serangga yang dijumpai dalam di sekitar perkhemahan, makan makanan daripada sumber tempatan dan mengamalkan amalan kitar semula dan penggubahan. Menurut kenyataan di sini, perkhemahan itu nanti akan dimudahcara oleh ahli-ahli Green Brunei dan suku Iban tempatan dari perkampungan itu. 34 teams compete for a green cause

THE second Remarkable Green Race concluded yesterday with 34 teams taking part to tackle various environmentally-themed obstacles in Bio-Innovation Corridor in Tungku. Present as the guest of honour was Deputy Permanent Secretary (Tourism) Wardi Hj Mohammad Ali, who presented prizes and tokens of appreciation to winners and sponsors respectively. The first place went to Team The Uncertain who earned 53 points. Team members brought home four Canon Ixus 310 digital cameras sponsored by Interhouse, diving course vouchers from Oceanic Quest, and one-week passes to Fitness Zone. Second place went to Team Farmers with 46 points, and the members received printers sponsored by Interhouse, two-day-one-night stay in Sumbiling Eco Village, Temburong, and one-week passes to Fitness Zone. Non-government organisations expect Legislative Council (LegCo) members to think ahead and offer solutions rather than engage in unnecessary discussions when they start convening for the 12th session on Saturday. On 19th February, Green Brunei members, Firdaus Ismail and Yasmin Jamal conducted an eco-awareness activity with year 7 and year 8 students of Paduka Seri Begawan Sultan Science College (Maktab Sains). About 400 students started their morning with a warm up aerobic session conducted by a group of teachers before proceeding to the gymnasium for their session with Green Brunei. The students were grouped according to their respective school houses ( Pahlawan, Panglima, Laksamana and Hulubalang ) before Firdaus Ismail led a brief talk on the 3R’s (reduce, reuse, recycle), mainly focusing on the importance of recycling. AS VOLUNTEERISM continues to grow in the sultanate, various volunteer platforms believe they should shape positive self-development skills for the participants. One of the various volunteer platforms is the non-government organisations (NGO) as they offer various skills and knowledge for the youth to further develop them, while taking part in community work. BLOCK your calendar on March 13 as the Remarkable Green Race (RGR), organised by Green Brunei, will return to challenge participants physically and mentally on environmental issues while raising awareness on the matter at the same time. The race will take place at the Bio-Innovation Corridor (previously the Agrotechnology Park) in Rimba. Online registration is still open until February 14. The race is opened to only 30 teams in which one team will consists of four participants, aged from 15 to 35 years old.
