Thrift market draws residents to KB Green Depot

Green Depot launched a two-day ‘Weekend Thrift Market’ at its Belait District branch near the Golden Jubilee Recreational Park yesterday.

Project Officer at Green Depot Fathin Khairunnisa binti Mat Japar said among the items sold at the event include used items such as clothing articles, kitchen appliances and books.

“Many of the items are dropped off here by the public, as well as through donation drive that we conduct occasionally. Instead of the items going to waste, we want to ensure that these used items can find a new home, which is in line with the goals of Green Depot in encouraging and promoting environmental sustainability through youth-led initiatives in the fields of education, conservation and advocacy.”

She said the proceeds will support Green Depot operation and provide financial aid to agencies including local animal shelter, Love Paw Sanctuary, and underprivileged families.

She also said by spreading the word on the activities carried out at Green Depot, it can help achieve its goals of reducing, reusing, and recycling in the nation.

The event continues today from 10am to 4pm. Visitors are advised to adhere to the Ministry of Health’s health and safety regulations.

Green Depot will also conduct similar events and workshops in the future.
