Mitsubishi and Green Brunei Unveil New Social Development Project

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, 7 AUGUST 2024 – Mitsubishi Corporation, via its Brunei Liaison Office, has partnered with Green Brunei and received support from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MOHA), the Department of Schools (JSS), the Ministry of Education (MOE), and the Department of Forestry under the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism (MPRT) to launch the second edition of the Social Development Project. The event was held this morning at the Perdana Wangsa Haji Mohammad Mosque in Kampong Ayer, Kampung Setia.

The project is focused on achieving two primary objectives: To repair the pathway in Kampong Setia ‘A’ Zone 2, Kampong Ayer; and to arrange an educational visit to the Tropical Forest Biodiversity Center in Sungai Liang for five schools. The participating schools are Sungai Siamas Primary School, Pehin Dato Jamil Primary School, Bendahara Lama Primary School, Saba Darat Primary School, and Haji Tarif Primary School.

In the welcoming speech, Sayaka Adachi, representing Tadashi Hara as the National Representative, Mitsubishi Corporation, emphasized that the implementation of the project aims to improve the structure of the bridge for the safety of residents where the repair work will start today until the end of the month, and five educational visits are scheduled for students in the Kampong Ayer area’s schools.

The first group tour session to the Tropical Forest Biodiversity Center, Sungai Liang today, will be followed by other school tour groups on August 8, 10 and 19. It is hoped to increase the exposure of students, especially about biodiversity in Brunei.
