Empowering Tomorrow: SDG Youth Dialogue 2024

On 25th June 2024, marked the start of the second SDG Youth Dialogue, which brings together young people from 15 to 25 years old with the goal of promoting the growth and empowerment of future sustainability leaders. The program is evidence of the sultanate’s determination to develop the potential of its young people and raise a new generation of creative and imaginative change makers committed to constructing a more sustainable future.

The Prime Minister’s Office Pengiran Hajah Siti Nirmala binti Pengiran Haji Mohammad’s Permanent Secretary (Wawasan) presided over the discussion. Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD), one of the dialogue’s primary sponsors, has demonstrated via its active participation its commitment to youth empowerment and sustainable development.

Project Hayaa, Iklim Chapters, Project Pink Box, and Upskilling Tutong are four youth groups that represent the education, health, environment, and jobs clusters. These groups have shown exceptional creativity and commitment to sustainability.

The program and its activities are managed by the Brunei Youth Council and Green Brunei, with assistance from the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) and the United Nations Resident Coordinator Office (UNRCO). The Special National Coordinating Committee on SDGs was organized by the Prime Minister’s office with collaboration from the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports and BIBD.
