Beach clean-up sees over 141kg of bottle caps, soda tins, food wrappers collected

Over 60 volunteers from the Brunei Youth Council (MBB), Society for Community Outreach and Training (SCOT), Green Brunei and Green Depot, who joined hands in a beach clean-up at SilverJubilee Park,

Kuala Belait, collected over 141 kilogrammes of waste including bottle caps, soda tins, food wrapping and packaging, and cigarette butts.

The waste was collected by the Department of Environment, Parks and Recreation (JASTRE) of the Ministry of Development.

The activity aimed at enhancing awareness about beach cleanliness while encouraging the public to be more involved in volunteering activities.

The beach clean-up campaign was also part of the one-week training carried out by the MBB and Green Brunei for Universiti Brunei Darussalam Year 3 students.

Legislative Council member Yang Berhormat Khairunnisa binti Haji Ash’ari joined the clean-up.

The programme also included project implementation, paperwork, first-aid and visits to several institutions, including the Adat Istiadat Negara Department learning about ‘terasul’ and Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), to learn about Brunei Vision 2035.
