189kgs of trash collected in beach clean-up

Over 40 volunteers comprising Green Depot members and the public participated in a beach cleaning campaign in Belait on Sunday collected 189kgs of trash and disposed it with JASTRe’s aid.

It was organised by Green Brunei, supported by the Department of Environment, Parks and Recreation (JASTRe). Village Head of Kampong Pandan A Sulaiman bin Haji Udin attended.

The campaign aimed to raise awareness, especially among the community in the district, on the importance of maintaining the cleanliness of the environment and the impact of littering to the ecosystem.

Green Brunei hopes that the event instilled a sense of compassion and empathy among the community towards the environment as well as inspire visitors to keep beaches clean.

Green Depot, a project by Green Brunei based in Kuala Belait, provides a platform to promote better waste management in the Belait District by encouraging the public to recycle in exchange for cash through a savings concept.
