UOB Asset Management Brunei, in partnership with Green Brunei, is delighted to announce the success of a tree planting event held at Taman Riadah on 19th March 2023. This collaborative initiative was supported by the Brunei Climate Change Secretariat and the Department of Environment, Parks and Recreation (JASTRe) and aimed to contribute to Brunei’s national target of planting 500,000 new trees by 2035, as outlined in the Brunei Darussalam National Climate Change Policy.
The tree planting event brought together a diverse group of over 100 representatives from 19 organizations, including the Brunei Darussalam Central Bank, Brunei Investment Agency, and Perbadanan Tabung Amanah Islam Brunei. The event was officiated by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II. Dato Seri Paduka Haji Khairuddin bin Haji Abdul Hamid, Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy, and His Excellency Heng Aik Yeow, Singaporean High Commissioner to Brunei Darussalam, also graced the occasion. UOBAM General Manager Kamal bin Haji Muhammad was present to represent UOB Asset Management Brunei.
A total of 63 tree saplings were planted during the event, symbolizing the collective commitment of the organizations and individuals in attendance to environmental conservation and sustainability. The tree planting initiative aligns with the broader goals of the Brunei Darussalam National Climate Change Policy, which emphasizes the importance of afforestation and reforestation in mitigating climate change and preserving Brunei’s natural landscapes.
The successful tree planting event at Taman Riadah reflects the shared commitment of UOB Asset Management Brunei, Green Brunei, and other participating organizations to environmental conservation and sustainability.
