Brunei LNG Sdn Bhd, in partnership with Green Brunei, proudly announces the successful organization of a coastal cleanup at Jalan Pengasing Beach, Tutong. This joint initiative brought together a community of dedicated volunteers, including students from Sixth Form Centre Tutong and youth from Kampong Sengkarai, to promote environmental stewardship and proper waste disposal.
The coastal cleanup event, which took place on 17th March 2023, was led by Mohd Suwarso Mudjono, Brunei’s LNG Growth and Strategy Manager, demonstrating Brunei LNG’s commitment to environmental sustainability and community engagement. The event witnessed the enthusiastic participation of approximately 100 passionate volunteers who came together to make a significant impact on the cleanliness of Jalan Pengasing Beach.
The guest of honour, Yang Berhormat Awang Abdul Aziz bin Haji Hamdan, a member of the Legislative Council and Head of Kampong Sengkarai, lent his support to the initiative, highlighting the importance of community-led efforts in preserving Brunei’s natural beauty.
During the cleanup, volunteers tirelessly worked together to collect approximately 67 bags of trash, weighing over 418 kilograms. The types of waste gathered ranged from plastics and debris to other discarded items, underscoring the urgent need for responsible waste disposal practices.
Mohd Suwarso Mudjono, LNG Growth and Strategy Manager at Brunei LNG, expressed his gratitude to all participants and emphasized the significance of collective action: “We are pleased to collaborate with Green Brunei on this coastal cleanup initiative. By working together, we can have a tangible impact on the health of our beaches and marine ecosystems. This event showcases the spirit of community and environmental responsibility that we aim to foster.”
