Green Brunei, in collaboration with the Japanese Association, is delighted to announce the triumphant completion of a beach cleanup campaign at Serasa Beach. This joint initiative brought together volunteers from both organizations and aimed to raise awareness about environmental conservation and proper waste management.
The Serasa Beach cleanup campaign, held on 11th March 2023, was a resounding success, demonstrating the power of community collaboration in tackling environmental issues. Volunteers from Green Brunei and the Japanese Association, including Japanese expats joined hands to make a significant impact on the cleanliness of the beach and its surroundings.
During the cleanup, a staggering 57 plastic bags of trash were collected, with a combined weight of 477.7 kilograms. This substantial amount of waste, primarily consisting of plastic debris, highlights the urgent need for increased environmental awareness and responsible waste disposal practices.
Green Brunei’s commitment to environmental sustainability and the Japanese Association’s dedication to community engagement were evident throughout the event. The presence of esteemed guests, including His Excellency Maeda Toru, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Brunei Darussalam and Honorary President of the Japanese Association, added a sense of significance to the occasion.
The Serasa Beach cleanup campaign not only removed a significant amount of plastic waste from the environment but also served as a reminder of the importance of responsible waste management.
