Green Brunei’s Nur Hazirah binti Mohd Sufian, among the participants at the inaugural international edition of the Global Citizen NOW action summit in Melbourne, Australia recently, interacted with local non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and engaged with prominent figures including Victorian Minister for Youth Natalie Suleyman and United States Special Envoy for Global Youth Issues Abby Finkenauer.

One of Hazirah’s highlights was her participation in a fireside chat with Her Royal Highness Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, during the summit. The conversation delve into their roles in the environmental advocacy sphere and explored avenues for collaboration to further advance the cause.

The summit, hosted by Global Citizen, brought together the leading voices and innovators from the Asia-Pacific region and beyond to address the pressing global challenges, particularly focused on combating extreme poverty. Nur Hazirah’s contributions to Sustainable development and environmental advocacy earned her the Youth Leaders Award, recognising their commitment to driving positive change.

Alongside 31 other youth leaders from across the Asia-Pacific region, she engaged in discussions and initiatives aimed at fostering sustainable solutions to poverty and inequality. During the summit, Nur Hazirah participated in a variety activities, including a celebratory dinner featuring native ingredients and the traditional making of damper bread. Global Citizen NOW: Melbourne serves as a platform for empowering young leaders.
