A race to go green

CHALLENGE both your body and mind with a run and lots of fun educational games at the 3R (Reduce, Reuse and Recycle) Race at Agro-Technology Park, Tungku at 8am onwards this Sunday.

Organised by Green Brunei together with the Green Leaders Camp Alumni and sponsored by Concepts Computer, the event is aimed at raising awareness and educating participants on the importance of 3R to promote a greener lifestyle.

“Most games will use recyclable materials such as tins, plastic bottles and papers and participants are to create items using them. There will also be waste dodge ball, where we use water balloons to represent materials and they only have to catch the ones that are recyclable,” said a member of the Green Leaders Camp Alumni, Amal Aqilah Hj Mohd Noorilham.

“We also have some exciting games where you need to challenge yourself a little bit more and see how bold you can be. It’s surprise. You can expect to have fun with your teammates while learning about 3R at the same time. We hope for people to be able to instill 3R in their lifestyle more after that,” she added.

To join, register as a team of five, however, it’s best to apply early as there are only a limited slots of 10 teams. Registration fee costs $50 per team. Registration and payment must be made by November 13 and a team name, names of all group members, their identity card numbers, phone numbers, email addresses and the name of educational institutions must be provided.

All participants will be given an electronic certificate in a pendrive upon completion of the race. Refreshments will be provided but individuals are encouraged to bring an extra change of clothes for the day.
