The Brunei Chevening Youth Forum (BCYF) will be held on Saturday, 3 December 2016 at the Core, UBD from 8.00am to 5.30pm. Themed “Shaping the Future for Generation Next”, it will bring together youth, alumni and professionals together to discuss insights, challenges and opportunities to the development of Brunei. Call for Registrations: 4th Green Leaders Camp

Green Brunei is calling for youth aged between 16 – 25 years old to register for the upcoming 4th Green Leaders Camp that will be organized from 5th to 8th December at the Youth Centre, Bandar Seri Begawan. Green Leaders Camp aims to train youth leaders and youth mobilization, through the exposure of issues and environmental initiatives led by NGOs in the country. It also aims to empower participants through a variety of workshops such as volunteerism, project management, environmental threats, conservation and many others. The participants are expected to critically assess the environmental problems facing the country and find possible solutions for those problems through discussions and activities. ‘Be proactive in tackling climate change issues’

ENVIRONMENTAL non-government organisation Green Brunei said more action is needed by the community in taking on their own initiatives in tackling climate change issues. Its Co-Founder/ Community Engagement Director Khairunnisa Ash’ari said the government or NGOs should not be the only party working on combatting climate change, but that there should be a collective effort from the community as well. “We have to work together as a community, such as reducing demand for products that have led to the haze issues or reducing usage of cars on the road,” she said. BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, 8 Sept – Sekumpulan lebih 20 orang kakitangan Bank Standard Chartered (SCB) telah bergotong-royong membersihkan kawasan Kampong Ayer, berdekatan Kampung Sungai Besar pagi tadi. Aktiviti kesukarelawanan berkenaan dianjurkan oleh jawatankuasa Kelab Rekreasi SCB dan diketuai oleh Pengerusi Kelab, Awang Muhammad Red Abdullah Ong. Menurut kenyataan SCB, aktiviti berkenaan turut melibatkan kerja-sama Green Brunei yang mana sukarelawan-sukarelawannya turut menyertai aktiviti pembersihan berkenaan yang mengambil masa lebih dua jam. Standard Chartered staff clean Kampong Ayer

A GROUP of more than 20 staff from Standard Chartered Bank (SCB) recently volunteered their time to clean areas of Kampong Ayer near Kampong Sungai Besar. The volunteering initiative was spearheaded by Standard Chartered’s Recreation Club committee and led by the club’s chairperson, Muhammad Red bin Abdullah Ong in collaboration with Green Brunei whose volunteers also participated in the activity. The volunteers started out from the jetty at the Waterfront in the capital at 7am and made their way via boat. The cleaning activity lasted over two hours.
